Water Repellent Coatings for Polypropylene Bags
Sludge obtained after wastewater treatment has high water content. Since the cost of sludge disposal is determined by weight, and water is heavy, dewatering sludge is crucial for industries.
Through in-depth R&D, Bridgedots is developing a water repellent (hydrophobic) coating for polypropylene and cotton bags used in sludge dewatering, which increases the efficiency of dewatering. The hydrophobic coating is based on nanomaterials with polymeric binders that provide high contact angles.
On applying the water repellent coating, the contact angle and hence the hydrophobicityof the surface increases, allowing only one-way of water passage under certain hydrostatic head. This increases the efficiency of sludge dewatering, making it cost-effective.
